A very rare Jaboticaba from the Vale do Mucuri (Mucuri Valley).
The Plinia spiritosantensis actually comes from the southeastern Brazilian state of Espírito Santo. (hence the name)
At the border in the state of Minas Gerais lies the Mucuri Valley, which is traversed by the 350km long Mucuri River (Rio Mucuri).
And that's where this Jaboticaba was discovered.
The fruits are dark blue in color and have velvety skin.
The taste was described as excellent, very juicy and sweet.
The trees themselves remain rather small and can survive somewhat longer dry periods.
It is not a Jabo from the Cerrado region but in the border area with the Mata Atlântica.
Please overwinter at at least 10 degrees.
Eine sehr seltene Jaboticaba aus dem Vale do Mucuri (Mucuri-Tal).
Eigentlich stammt die Plinia spiritosantensis aus dem südöstlichen, brasilianischen Bundesstaat Espírito Santo. (daher auch der Name)
An der Grenze im Bundesstaat Minas Gerais liegt das Mucuri Tal, welches vom über 350km langen Fluß Mucuri (Rio Mucuri) durchflossen wird.
Und dort wurde diese Jaboticaba entdeckt.
Die Früchte sind von dunkelblauer Farbe und haben eine samtige Haut.
Der Geschmack wurde als vorzüglich bezeichnet, sehr saftig und süß.
Die Bäume selbst bleiben eher klein und können auch etwas längere Trockenperioden überstehen.
Es ist keine Jabo aus der Cerrado-Region sondern im Grenzbereich zum Mata Atlântica.
Überwintern bitte bei mindestens 10 Grad.
