How does a Syzygium get into the Mata Atlantica of Bahia Brazil?
Syzygium actually only occurs in Asia and Africa.
For some time now, various Syzygiums have also been cultivated on other continents.
It is all the more astonishing that this previously unknown Syzygium / Eugenia was discovered in the middle of the UNA National Park in Bahia Brazil.
The seeds are exactly like those of the Syzygium. Fragile and polyembryonic.
The leaves and flowers are also reminiscent of Syzygium.
At the location, this tree was about 8m tall and it has very striking, elongated leaves.
The fruits keep their sepals and are light green when ripe.
The juicy flesh is juicy, sweet and has a balanced acidity.
This tree grows on slightly acidic loamy soil.

Seit einiger Zeit werden auch verschiedene Syzygium auf anderen Kontinenten angebaut.
Um so erstaunlicher ist es, dass diese bisher unbekannte Syzygium / Eugenia mitten im UNA Nationalpark in Bahia Brasilien entdeckt wurde.
Die Samen sind exakt wie die der Syzygium. Zerbrechlich und polyembrional.
Auch Blätter und Blüten erinnern an Syzygium.
Am Standort war dieser Baum ca. 8m groß und er besitzt sehr auffällige, längliche Blätter.
Die Früchte behalten ihre Kelchblätter und sind hellgrün wenn sie reif sind.
Das saftige Fruchtfleisch ist saftig, süß und hat eine ausgewogene Säure.
Dieser Baum wächst auf leicht saurem Lehmboden.
Bitte diese Syzygium / Eugenia bei mindestens 15 Grad überwintern.
