This Solanum comes from the forested mountains of eastern Brazil and Argentina.
The plant we are offering is currently flowering. See photos.
It will be a small tree up to 2m high that will start flowering after two years and then bear lots of fruit for a few years.
This Solanum can withstand temperatures of up to -5 degrees for a short time, hence the name.
In the long term, however, it should overwinter at temperatures above 0 degrees.
The fruits taste similar to those of the tamarillo - just a little more aromatic and sweet.
The fruits stay a little smaller than normal tamarillo.
This plant has shallow roots and needs wider pots.
Please overwinter at a minimum of 5 degrees.
Diese Solanum stammt aus den bewaldeten Bergen Ostbrasiliens bis Argentinien.

Es wird ein kleiner bis 2m hoher Baum der nach zwei Jahren mit blühen beginnt und dann ein paar wenige Jahre viele Früchte trägt.
Diese Solanum hält kurzfristig bis -5 Grad aus, daher der Name.
Langfristig sollte sie aber über 0 Grad überwintern.
Die Früchte schmecken ähnlich denen der Tamarillo - nur etwas aromatischer und süßer.
Die Früchte bleiben etwas kleiner als normale Tamarillo.
Diese Pflanze ist ein Flachwurzler und benötigt eher breitere Töpfe.
Überwintern bitte bei mindestens 5 Grad.
