The Brazilians call this tree Marmixa, Pau Doce or Casca Doce.
The scientific name is Pradosia lactescens.
This tree can live for over 100 years.
This tree grows in the Atlantic rainforest and prefers the Restinga forest.
Restinga is the area between the beach and the interior.
In the first two years this tree grows a little slowly (about 30cm in the first year) and prefers to be in the shade.
Like most Restinga residents it has deep roots and doesn't like waterlogging.
Nevertheless it loves a subtropical climate and enough water.
From the third year onwards this plant can be in full sun and it starts to grow much faster.
You can then start pruning it.
In other words, cut off all the branches at the bottom of the trunk and form a crown.
The fruits taste really good. The name "Doce" alone reveals that they are really very sweet.
If you love peaches and Abiu, you've come to the right place.
Because that is exactly how the taste of these fruits is described.
The tree is self-fertile and blooms cauliflor.
The flowers and fruits grow directly on the trunk.
Please overwinter this plant at a temperature of at least 10 degrees.

Dieser Baum wächst im Atlantischen Regenwald und dort bevorzugt im Restinga Wald.
Restinga ist das Gebiet zwischen Strand und Landes-Inneren.
In den ersten zwei Jahren wächst dieser Baum etwas langsam (ca. 30cm im ersten Jahr) und möchte noch im Schatten stehen.
Wie die meisten Restinga-Bewohner hat er tiefe Wurzeln und mag keine Staunässe.
Trotzdem liebt er subtropisches Klima und genug Wasser.
Ab dem dritten Jahr kann diese Pflanze vollsonnig stehen und beginnt er wesentlich schneller zu wachsen.
Dann kann man beginnen ihn zu beschneiden.
Also alle Äste unten am Stamm ab und eine Krone bilden.
Die Früchte schmecken richtig gut. Schon der Namenszusatz "Doce" verrät, dass sie wirklich sehr süß sind.
Wer Pfirsich und Abiu liebt ist hier genau richtig.
Denn genau so wird der Geschmack dieser Früchte beschrieben.
Der Baum ist selbstfruchtend und blüht cauliflor.
Die Blüten und Früchte wachsen also direkt am Stamm.
Diese Pflanze bitte bei mindestens 10 Grad überwintern.
