This Eugenia is a very special "ligustrina"!
Eugenia ligustrina var fluminensis
Eugenia ligustrina actually comes from Hispanola (the island with the countries DomRep and Haiti).
But the botanist Otto Berg also described two other eugenias from Brazil that belong to the Ligustrina and are somewhat different.
There are three types in total:
Eugenia ligustrina var. caribaeus (the typical species of Hispanola), the Eugenia var. fluminensis (from Brazil) and the Eugenia var. minensis (from Minas Gerrais in Brazil).
The Eugenia offered here is Eugenia ligustrina var. fluminensis and comes from the north of Brazil.
Fluminensis comes from the word indument and means "hairless".
The fruits and plant of this variety are completely hairless.
This Eugenia adapts well to different soils and grows slowly in the first two years.
The fruits taste excellent. Very sweet and juicy.
Please overwinter this plant at at least 10 degrees.

Eugenia ligustrina var. fluminensis
Eigentlich stammt die Eugenia ligustrina aus Hispanola (Die Insel mit den Ländern DomRep und Haiti).
Aber der Botaniker Otto Berg hat damals auch zwei weitere Eugenien aus Brasilien beschrieben, die zur Ligustrina gehören und sich etwas unterscheiden.
Es gibt insgesamt drei Sorten:
Eugenia ligustrina var. caribaeus (die typische Art von Hispanola), die Eugenia var. fluminensis (aus Brasilien) und die Eugenia var. minensis (aus Minas Gerrais in Brasilien).
Die hier angebotene Eugenia ist die Eugenia ligustrina var. fluminensis und stammt aus dem Norden Brasiliens.
Fluminensis kommt von dem Wort Indument und bedeutet "haarlos".
Die Früchte und Pflanze dieser Sorte ist komplett haarlos.
Diese Eugenia passt sich gut an verschiedene Böden an und wächst in den ersten zwei Jahren langsam.
Die Früchte schmecken hervorragend. Sehr süß und saftig.
Diese Pflanze bitte bei mindestens 10 Grad überwintern.
